2016—My first year growing mulleins. The flower stalk of Verbascum bombyciferum 'Arctic Summer' carried spectacular promise but fizzled from repeated rains. Not really complaining though, because it's raining! Miraculous drought-quenching droplets are descending from the sky! Droopy flower stalks never looked so good. |
Update 1/11/2017: After several days of rain, Verbascum flower stalk remains upright. Droopiness doesn't seem related to rain, but possibly a function of flower meristem development. I guess verbascum flower flop is normal? |
