08-05-2016—The Plant-Destroyer (Phytón-Phthorá)

Purchased Aeonium ‘Shamrock' from clearance pile at Home Depot. Noticed an area where the tips were brown and thought it was sun damage. Cut off brown parts and planted. Below is photo two weeks later. Tissue necrosis across the plant. Phytophthora? Didn't know cacti/succulents were susceptible to Phytophthora, but that's what it looks like.

Found this handsome stink bug on blackberry cane. Never seen this species before. Didn't notice any damage to the fruit.

Second gopher caught in trap on east side of house. The best way to place the black hole trap is in an exit tunnel to the surface. Slide the trap into basically any open gopher hole in the ground.

Gopher caught in backyard on west side. Thank you black hole gopher trap.

Last year a gopher systematically ate the succulent tops off of every lupine in my garden. I tried to catch it unsuccessfully using Victor easy set traps.
